About the role
Are you interested in digital publishing, long-form journalism, and helping shape how audiences engage with content in an app environment? Radio Times is offering a paid summer placement focused on editorial production and content repurposing for our award-winning app. You will contribute to a specialist project aimed at improving user engagement with the Radio Times app by surfacing and adapting archive content for a new digital context
This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience with a respected UK media brand, working on a meaningful project that blends editorial judgement with digital tools and audience insight.
As an Editorial Assistant, you will;
- Source and repurpose long-form archive features originally published in print, selecting pieces that can resonate with today’s app users
- Use tools like Elvis (our archive platform), InDesign, and Fabric/WordPress to prepare content for digital republication
- Work closely with the App Editor to identify which TV shows or themes to prioritise, informed by data and analytics
- Use your editorial judgement to reshape, sub-edit, and format features for a mobile-first audience
- Support broader app content workflows, including TV recommendation lists
- Contribute to writing previews or reviews, depending on your interests and editorial strengths
What You’ll Learn
- How long-form print features are adapted for digital and mobile platforms
- The role of audience data in informing editorial decision-making
- Hands-on experience using professional CMS tools and editorial software
- How a cross-functional editorial team collaborates in a real newsroom environment
- How to write and edit copy for clarity, tone, and SEO performance
- The editorial process for one of the UK’s best-known entertainment brands
Requirements
This placement is ideal for students, recent graduates, or career-changers who:
- Have a strong interest in editorial work, journalism, or media production
- Enjoy long-form storytelling, entertainment, and/or pop culture
- Have great attention to detail and a sharp editorial eye
- Are curious about how data and analytics inform digital publishing
- Are keen to develop real-world skills in a supportive and professional environment
You don’t need prior experience in journalism, just enthusiasm, a willingness to learn, and an interest in digital media.
Benefits
- A relaxed working environment with regular socials
- Immediate Community webinars, well-being initiatives and Mental Health First aiders
- 25 days holiday annually
- Tailored training and development through our Learning platform
- A progressive and transparent culture with clear career progression
- Flexible / hybrid working plus early finish Fridays
- Cycle to work scheme
- A newly renovated modern office with lots of collaborative spaces
