Equality, diversity and inclusion
A commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion underpins our company values and behaviours. We believe that when people with different backgrounds and perspectives work together, we can create the most value for our people, readers, customers and society.
Equitable processes
As a people-centric organisation, creating an equitable, diverse and inclusive workplace where everyone feels supported, valued and developed, is a strategic priority for us. We continually review our policies to support all, covering areas from neurodiversity to menopause and transitioning. Our range of benefits include enhanced family, surrogacy and care leave, as we look to support our people at all stages of their lives.
Our commitment to corporate diversity
We want to make sure we have fairness and equality across all levels of our company. As part of this, we publish our ethnicity pay gap report, alongside our gender gap statistics, on an annual basis.
We know we still have work to do to close our pay gap and are committed to doing so. To help us, we’ve pledged to 50% representation of women in our leadership and top-paid roles, and 20% ethnically diverse leaders by 2028.
Partner organisations
We’re proud to work in collaboration with the following organisations:
Community and belonging
As part of our commitment to creating a truly supportive, equitable and diverse culture, we’ve established seven network groups at Immediate. They provide an open environment for people to network, mentor and exchange ideas, solutions and experiences – and importantly, help influence positive action and change.
Sustainability
We believe we have a responsibility to reduce our impact on the world and be more sustainable in everything we do. We’re working hard to reduce our emissions by 30% by 2030 and to be net zero by 2045. Our people are key to influencing this change, so we’re giving them the knowledge, tools and resources to help combat the climate emergency, both at home and at work. We offer:
- Climate literacy training to understand the science of climate change.
- Department specific training – whatever your job is, you will be equipped with insights and actions to act with the planet in mind.
- Regular sessions with Couch to Carbon Zero, offering tips and advice on how to be more sustainable in your home life, from banking and energy to fast fashion and travel.
- Regular Lunch and Learn sessions.
We also offer:
- The option to opt into an ethical pension
- A cycle to work scheme
- Showers and changing rooms
- Electric vehicle charging points
We’re also committed to a greener workplace. All our offices are powered by 100% renewable energy, with low energy lighting installed throughout, with sensor activated lights and air conditioning to reduce energy consumption. When it comes to food and drink, we always offer vegan and vegetarian options, and no single-use products in our subsidised canteen. We donate all leftover food to local food waste charity, Olio, and have a zero-to-landfill policy.
Love Learning
We want our people to learn and grow whilst at Immediate and invest in their development to give them the skills, tools and experience to thrive in their careers.
We offer everyone access to our online learning platform, so they can curate their own learning and development plans, in addition to in-person learning opportunities focused on key skills. We invest in our people and managers to develop skills we need today and in the future, including those around data, video and AI.
Learning together, to create new connections and a shared sense of discovery and innovation, is also hugely important at Immediate. We host company-wide learning days and initiatives, as well as workshops and events to support people’s personal development and wellbeing.
Outreach
Making a positive contribution to our local community is really important to us. Throughout the year, we work closely with charities and groups in our area to help support the important and valuable work they do in our communities, including an annual summer volunteering programme, which we encourage all our people take part in.
The groups and charities we support include:
- Solidarity Sports – supporting children recovering from complex trauma
Barons Court Project – the only day care centre in Hammersmith and Fulham supporting the homeless and vulnerable - The Marmalade Trust – the leading charity for loneliness
- SOBUS – a Community and Development Agency for Hammersmith and Fulham
Meet the People Team
Immediate’s People Team are here to support and develop everyone during their time here, helping to bring our company culture and values to life. The People Team includes our HR, Talent Acquisition, ED&I, Learning & Development, Internal Events, Communications and Facilities teams.
Recent awards
We’re proud of the awards our brands, teams and individuals have won – including being awarded the UK’s 4th best place to work in the Glassdoor Employees’ Choice Awards 2022.
