Radio Times Screen test Awards 2024 Longlist Revealed
Wednesday 7 August 2024
Radio Times, the UK’s leading authority on television and radio, has announced the longlist for the Radio Times Screen Test Awards 2024, the only TV awards built on science.
The Screen Test Awards are based on a major piece of research conducted by Radio Times, in partnership with the University of Sussex exploring the power of television and radio in people’s lives. The survey explored the impact television and radio had on the way people feel – whether that be happier, more empathetic, educated, informed, trusting or relaxed.
The awards are split across eight categories – Happy TV Award, Empathy Award for Drama, Watercooler Award, The Reith Award, Stress Buster Award, Best Box Set, Trust Award for Audio and The Art of Reflection.
The longlists for each category, featuring some of the biggest TV and radio programmes from the last 12 months, are now open to the public vote, to create the category shortlists. The overall winners will then be decided by an expert judging panel, including Radio Times editors and partners at Sussex University.

The results of The Screen Test Awards will be announced at a special ceremony in London later this year.
“The Screen Test Awards celebrate the television and radio programmes that have made a positive impact on people’s well-being over the last twelve months – either through amazing storytelling or performances. The awards are designed to reward those programmes and production teams who make Britons feel better. Now, it’s your chance to shape the shortlist by voting for the shows that made you feel good and improved your wellbeing over the past year!”
